Monthly Love Horoscopes - May 2017
While Venus had already spent two months in Aries before she retrograded back out in early April, her return on the 29th April has put her right back at the start again. Venus won't leave until the 6th June, spending the whole of May moving through Aries for a second time. In every sense of the word this is an opportunity for a do over, but there is another consequence, which is either pure coincidence or a crafty move from the planet of love. Venus should have long gone, but instead she is still in Aries, still bringing new romantic opportunities when, on the 10th May, the North Node returns to your romantic sector for the first time in 17 years. Unlike a planet, the North Node is a force and until November 2018, this will keep the element of fate in play, as well as drawing romantic matters forward, towards their destiny. This will also trigger a series of eclipses here over the next two years, the first being a total solar eclipse in August. Venus should be long gone by now, but through a twist of fate she is still here. Could it be that fate is already at work? Things take a turn for the better for your relationships this month as well. Apart from an opposition with Venus on the 19th/20th May, there will be no pressure on Jupiter, in his last full month in retrograde motion in your relationship sector. However, even if there was you'd be better for it, with Mars spending the whole of May in your communication sector. Even if there are still some relationship tensions, it won't take much for Mars to turn this into an opportunity for a breakthrough.
This month comes with a sense of deja vu, especially when it comes to a sense of romantic nostalgia. Venus, planet of love returned to a nostalgic part of your chart in early February, for what should have been a 24 day nostalgic trip down love's memory lane. Venus moves through here on her way to Taurus each year, bringing one romantic chapter to an end before a new one can begin. Yet February came and went as did March, with Venus showing no signs of leaving. Instead, a retrograde turn in early March threw her into the very deepest reaches of love's memory lane, reaches she hadn't taken your heart in eight years. That retrograde phase took Venus so far back that she retrograded all the way back out in early March. As you move into May Venus is back, but only just. Having returned on the 29th April Venus is not only back in a nostalgic part of your chart, but is still in the very early degrees. Another nostalgic trip down love's memory lane is underway, less than four weeks after your longest in eight years came to an end. Not due to return to Taurus until the 6th June, even your birthday month will come and go and still Venus is taking your heart on a nostalgic trip down love's memory lane. This will deepen when the North Node leaves your romantic sector on the 10th May, a force that has been keeping the romantic tide moving forward. Pay attention to relationship matters around the Full Moon in your relationship sector on the 11th May. With lucky Jupiter returning in the second half of the year, this could be a stepping stone to developments ahead.
By the time Venus, planet of love retrograded back out of a social and serendipitous part of your chart in early April, she had already been here for two months, her longest visit in eight years. Yet for just the second time in your lifetime, she retrograded back out, only to start over again on the 29th April. This time Venus is in direct motion and will remain in retrograde motion until leaving early next month. However, lucky Jupiter is spending his last full month in retrograde motion in your romantic sector, which is keeping the doors open to the past and second chances. This puts Venus and Jupiter at odds and they will move into opposition on the 19th/20th May. However, an opposition between the planets of love and luck will simply challenge your excuses, giving both the right push at the right time. Venus is spending the month triggering serendipitous moments and/or encounters, while Jupiter is holding the doors open to the past and second chances. Jupiter has an ally this month. Mars is spending the whole month in Gemini, fuelling your financial passions and fighting spirit in general. However, on good terms with Jupiter he will also fuel your romantic passions and fighting spirit. A bit of pressure from Venus will soon have you fighting back. Mars will also put some pressure on Saturn, who is spending his first full month in retrograde motion in your relationship sector. Any relationship tensions this might create will come to a head around the 28th/30th May. This will have a slow build up. With the Moon returning to your communication sector on the 30th May, it won't take much to turn this into an opportunity for a breakthrough.
This is a fairly low key month for both romantic and relationship matters, but there is one special event that holds clues to something special ahead. Venus returned to your career sector last late month, so the planet of love will be out of the game all month. However, by the time she returns to a social and serendipitous part of your chart early next month, she'll be ready to make up for lost time. In the meantime, Venus made a rare double dip visit back to an adventurous part of your chart last month. Venus would be disappointed if a mix of romance, adventure and nostalgia went off the boil just because she has moved on. Venus only left on the 29th April, so there will be few excuses to hide behind. With Pluto spending his first full month in retrograde motion in your relationship sector, this is the start of a relationship review that has run from April to September, since his return in 2008. The North Node, in your communication sector since November 2015, is leaving on the 10th May, not to return for another 17 years. This will see the communication and relationship gods working feverously to get the communication lines open in the early part of the month. Especially when it comes to giving your relationships, the past and unsaid words a voice. This month's gift from the love gods is a Full Moon in your romantic sector on the 11th May. With your luckiest year for love in over a decade kicking off in October, this will be an important stepping stone. The love gods will be using this Lovers Moon to line things up for what is to come, so stand back and let fate take the wheel.
The love gods have come through for you this month, providing not only a good month for matters of the heart, but bring a sense of romance and adventure back into play. By the time Venus, planet of love left an adventurous part of your chart in early April she had already spent two months here, far longer than the 24 days it would normally take her to move through. With the second month spent in retrograde motion this meant that instead of leaving by moving forward, Venus retrograded back out again. On the 29th April Venus returned for a double dip visit and not due to leave until the 6th June, she will spend the whole of May back here. Both you and Venus have had two months practice under your belt, so when the love gods offer you an opportunity for a do over, you should know what to do with it. This will keep a sense of adventure and romance fuelled all month. This comes as Saturn is spending his first full month in retrograde motion in your romantic sector. Saturn's third retrograde phase here in as many years is also his last for another three decades. Having already spent six weeks in retrograde motion, Venus will be happy to show you how to make the most of it. It's your relationships that really do get a massive surprise this month, with the South Node returning to your relationship sector on the 10th May, for the first time in 17 years. This brings the element of fate into play. A series of eclipses, herald a period of major relationship developments ahead. With Jupiter in his last full month in retrograde motion in your communication sector, this comes with the full support of the communication gods.
On both the romantic and relationship fronts this is a month to regroup and let things settle. It was early last month that Venus retrograded back into your relationship sector, two months after leaving. This was just the second time in your lifetime that Venus had left, done a U turn and come back and the only time in your lifetime when Chiron, planet of healing is here. This is important, for just as Venus retrograded as far back as she was going to venture and had come to a standstill, Venus aligned with Chiron. Since 2010 this has been an annual alignment that lasts 24 hours at most. Yet with Venus at a standstill this instead ran for five days, the first half in retrograde motion and the second half while direct. This was a major coming together of the planets of love and healing, in the heart of a rare double dip visit. Venus left on the 29th April, but this was such a healing experience and such a huge opportunity to lay old relationship ghosts and demons to rest that this has the potential to be a game changer. Neptune and Chiron, here for the long haul, will continue the journey towards healing and in their last full month in retrograde motion, are slowing down. On the 10th May the South Node, in your relationship sector since November 2015 will leave, severing your final ties to the past. A Full Moon in your communication sector on the 11th May will bring an opportunity for a communication breakthrough and to finally clear the air. This comes just as Pluto, in your romantic sector since 2008 is spending his first full month in retrograde motion, holding the doors open to the past and second chances.
When the Sun left your relationship sector last month Venus, Mercury and Mars had all been and gone. This made this the point where the Sun would normally hand the reins over to Uranus and Eris, the caretaker crew charged with keeping the wheels turning. However that didn't happen, for just a day later Mercury, planet of communication retrograded back in for a double dip visit. Then on the 29th April Venus, who had left 26 days earlier, returned for a double dip visit as well. This is where things stand as you move into May, with Mercury and Venus both back for a double dip visit and Mercury, planet of communication in retrograde motion. This is a real opportunity for a do over. Mercury won't retrograde back far enough to move into opposition with Jupiter, in Libra and the only planet creating any pressure will be Venus. The planet of love will move into opposition with Jupiter on the 19th/20th May. Venus is not only the planet of love and guardian of your relationships, but as your ruling planet she is backing both sides. She is here to advocate for your relationships, but as your ruling planet she will always back you. Along with the support of Saturn, in his first full month in retrograde motion in your communication sector, this might finally be when you crack the code and finally find the right balance between your personal and relationship needs. Saturn will spend the whole month in retrograde motion in your communication sector but Mercury, planet of communication, will turn direct on the 4th May. Be prepared for some unexpected romantic developments from the 10th May, as the North Node returns to your romantic sector to kick off a fateful romantic chapter.
That the focus is on your relationships at this time of year is a given, with the Sun always spending the first three weeks of May in your relationship sector. For the whole last month everything was anything but the norm, with the Sun's return on the 20th April triggering a dramatic 48 hour period that saw the Sun return and both Mercury and Mars leave. Mercury retrograded back out, with a lot of passion and even frustration suddenly shifting to the Sun's more objective approach to relationship matters. It was on the 30th April, just hours before moving into the new month that Ceres left your relationship sector, not to return for another four years. Ceres, dwarf planet and goddess of the solar system, has had a huge influence on your relationships over the last two years. Having initially spent three months here in mid 2016, Ceres retrograded back out, only to return in early February. Ceres was here as Mars moved through, as Mercury returned and then left and for the Sun's first 10 days. Not directly influencing your relationships, Ceres' mission was to define your relationship needs and priorities. Ceres would then feed that information to the planets as they moved through. Ceres spent the most time with Mars, leaving you with a clear sense of what you're fighting for. Mercury, who retrograded back out of your relationship sector during the Sun's first full day, will return on the 16th May, this time in direct motion. Having already spent time giving the past and unsaid words a voice, Mercury will return in time to give your relationships a voice and to move on. Yet with Pluto, your ruling planet, spending his first full month in retrograde motion in your communication sector, you'll still be able to give the past and unsaid words a voice.
The love and relationship gods both come through for you this month, with the love gods bringing a bonus romantic chapter and the relationship gods bringing things forward. This sees romantic forces that should have run their course last month continue and a relationship focus that shouldn't start until later in the month already underway, with the two overlapping. By the time the Sun left your romantic sector on the 20th April Venus, Mercury and Mars, the only other planets due to move through this year, had all been and gone. Uranus and Eris are here for the long haul, so this was the point where the Sun should have handed the reins over to what is the caretaker crew. However, while the Sun did leave, before the door had a chance to swing close behind him, Mercury snuck back in for a double dip visit. Mercury had left on the 1st April, with his return just under three weeks later and in retrograde motion, a chance for a do over. It was on the 29th April that Venus, who had left just days behind Mercury, also returned for a double dip visit. Mercury will turn direct on the 4th May and leave on the 16th May, but Venus, planet of love, will spend the whole of May back in your romantic sector. Having already spent two months here, from early February to early April, Venus knows exactly how to make this bonus month count. In the meantime, while the Sun will return to your relationship sector on the 21st May, as it does at this time every year, Mars returned last month, just a day after the Sun left your romantic sector. Not due to leave until early next month while Venus, planet of love will spend the whole of May in your romantic sector Mars, planet of passion will spend the whole of May in your relationship sector.
While May will have the romantic influence that it will always have, it doesn't have the romantic influence you are really hanging out for. You will have to wait for next month for that, but I suspect that the love gods will go out of their way to make up for lost time. By the time the Sun returned to your romantic sector on the 20th April, as he does at this time every year, Mars and Mercury were both in their last full day and both left within the Sun's 36 hours. Mars, who had already spent six weeks fuelling your romantic passions and fighting spirit with Ceres, here from the 5th February to the 30th April, had spent nearly three months getting to the heart of what you are fighting for. Even Mercury, planet of communication, has spent nearly three weeks giving your heart a voice, before retrograding back out. The Sun will always spend the first three weeks of May in your romantic sector and not due to leave until the 21st May that is still the case. You have had a parade of planets move through by this point, except for the one planet that matters. Venus, planet of love, reached a point in early February where she should have been less than four weeks away from your romantic sector. Instead Venus turned retrograde, doing a U turn that took her away from, rather than towards your romantic sector. Venus is back in direct motion but she won't return to your romantic sector until the 6th June. However, once she returns she'll be on her own, without the Sun's reality checks and with all the preparation work done. Not due to leave until the 5th July, Venus will spend a month making up for lost time. With Mars due to move through your relationship sector from the 5th June to the 21st July, the planets of love and passion have something special planned from early next month.
There is a mix of the expected and the unexpected this month. The expected is that the Sun will return to your romantic sector on the 21st May. This is something that happens at this time every year, with the solar spotlight always falling on matters of the heart and all things romantic, three weeks into May each year. What is unexpected is to already have Mars here as you move into the month. Mars returned on the 21st April, giving him a month's jump on the Sun and therefore plenty of time to fuel your financial passions and fighting spirit. Mars won't leave until the 5th June, with his first visit in nearly two years creating a month that is a lot more romantically charged than is normally the case. Venus, who normally travels with the Sun, is held up this year and won't return until early July. This means what Mars is fuelling this month, will have several months to run. Mercury, who has already been held back by a retrograde phase, won't return to your romantic sector until early next month. So for the first three weeks it's just Mars and for the final 10 days you have the Sun and Mars. However, the real surprise is on the relationship front. It is impossible to have the Sun, Mercury or Venus return to your relationship sector in May, it is simply too early in the year. And the last time Mars was in your relationship sector in May was nine years ago. In fact, the last time a planet was in your relationship sector and there was focus on your relationships in May was when Jupiter was here, from mid 2014 to mid 2015. It is not a planet that expectedly kicks off a fateful relationship chapter on the 10th May but the North Node, kicking off a fateful 18 month journey. It's no wonder that Venus and Mercury, the planets of love and communication, are both making double dip visits to your communication sector this month.
That May is a fairly quiet month for romantic and relationship matters is not surprising. Venus, planet of love only left Pisces on the 29th April, wrapping up a rare double dip visit that gave you a chance to revisit your desires and expectations for the coming year. This is likely to have been a healing experience, with a chance to lay some old ghosts to rest. With Mars returning to your romantic sector early next month, that healing process will continue behind the scenes. Mars will kick off the most romantically charged months of 2017, months that will extend out to September, covering the middle months of the year. Mars will spend the whole of May in your home and family sector, on a mission to make your life as love friendly as possible. This and a chance for the healing process to continue will see the love gods lay low this month, but for all the right reasons. The month will start with the Moon in your romantic sector and after leaving on the 2nd May, will come full circle and move through a second time, from the 24th May to the 26th May. By the time the Moon leaves this second time, Mars will be just 10 days away, so this will be a chance to line up for what lies ahead. With the North Node in your relationship sector since November 2015, even when there is no planetary activity in your relationship sector there is at least some relationship focus. However, that ends with the North Node's departure on the 10th May. This will have two consequences. The first is that the North Node will no longer be there to guide your relationships forward. Yet after 18 months there is no reason why you can't do that. The biggest impact is a drop in relationship pressure. Both before and after the North Node leaves, with the Sun in your communication sector until the 21st May, work to ensure the communication lines are open.
