Monthly Money Horoscopes - May 2017
That the focus is on income matters this month is no surprise, with the Sun always spending the first three weeks of May in your income sector. This year you have both a head start and a hold up, if that makes sense. The head start is due to the fact that by the time Mars left last month, just a day after the Sun returned, he had already spent six weeks firing things up and attacking glass ceilings. Even Mercury had spent nearly three weeks before retrograding back out on the same day, leaving you with a smart head for money and 20/20 hindsight. While this leaves you with a lot of options and momentum, things may appear to have stalled. This is partly because with Mars gone anything would seem to wind down, but also because you are playing the waiting game. Mercury will turn direct on the 4th May, returning for a double dip visit to your income sector on the 16th May. This is just five days before the Sun is due to leave, once more bringing the smart head for money needed to get your head back in the game. Yet if you expected this to give things the hurry up it won't, mainly because things will continue to unfold, even after the Sun leaves on the 21st May. It is almost as though the money gods are waiting for something, which they are. So far the only no show is Venus, planet of money and the one planet that really can attract the money. Not due to return until early next month, even by the end of the month the most lucrative weeks of the year will still be in front of you. In the meantime, a Full Moon on the 11th May will give both income and money matters a push.
While the Sun's return to your income sector on the 21st May won't take you by surprise, as he returns at this time every year, Mars' return a month early has already taken that claim. When Mars returned on the 21st April he brought the first planetary activity into play here in nine months, while returning for the first time in nearly two years. This is giving the warrior planet of the cosmos a month to fire things up and attack glass ceilings before the Sun's more restrained approach kicks in. The warrior planet of the cosmos can do a lot of damage to the glass ceilings in a month, especially those in your own mind. This has kicked off the most lucrative months of 2017, with a parade of planets yet to move through. The Sun, as did Mars and as will every other planet that moves through this year, will all find lucky Jupiter in your work sector. It has only been 12 years since the Sun, Mercury and Venus have met up with Jupiter here, but it has been 36 years since Mars has. While this is good news for income matters, it is equally good news for work and job matters. At the same time that Mars is firing things up on the income front, Saturn is spending his first full month in retrograde motion in your financial sector. This takes money and income matters in different directions. Saturn is at the start of a slow, five month review of money matters, while is on an urgent quest to fast track income matters. An opposition between Mars and Saturn on the 28th/30th May might create some financial tension, but you have all month to prepare and work out how to use this to your advantage on both fronts.
If things are quiet on the money and income fronts this month then make the most of it, for that won't be the case for long. While the Sun will always return to your income sector in June, this isn't until later in the month. This year Mars is making his first visit to your income sector in two years and returning on the 5th June, the closer you get to the end of the month the closer you will get to the most lucrative months of 2017. For while Mars will only be here for six weeks, he'll lead a parade of planets that will take until September to move through. While this doesn't have an impact this month, this makes the Moon's two visits to your income sector a lot more important, especially the second visit. The month begins with the Moon in your income sector and here until the 2nd May, this will ensure your nose for money is sharp from the get go. With Venus having just left your career sector on the 29th April, this will bring a chance to steer the month in a lucrative direction from the get go. Until the Moon returns later in the month, May is more about money matters, with Pluto spending his first full month in retrograde motion in your financial sector. Since returning in 2008 Pluto has spent from April to September in retrograde motion, in what is now a familiar pattern until he eventually leaves in 2024. The Moon's visit from the 14th May to the 17th May will sharpen financial instincts that will come with 20/20 hindsight. This will be the Moon's first visit since Pluto's retrograde turn, so will be a valuable chance to get your bearing. Meanwhile, the Moon will return to your income sector from the 27th May to the 30th May, leaving you with a nose for money just a week before Mars is due to return.
To start with it is business as usual, which means no money gods to be seen and no influences in play in either of your two money houses. There is nothing unusual about that, as this isn't normally an active point of the year on either front. Mercury left your financial sector in February, bringing all planetary activity there for the year to a close and the Sun, Mercury and Venus won't return to your income sector until July. All you can normally expect at this time of year is the Moon's monthly visits. However, this is the month when everything changes and it does so without any planetary intervention. It is on the 10th May that the lunar nodes will shift into your two money houses, the North Node in your income sector and the South Node into your financial sector, for the first time in 17 years. Unlike a planet the lunar nodes act like cosmic magnets and in the case of the North Node and income matters in particular, this will draw you onto a lucrative path and towards new income opportunities. Not due to leave until November 2018, this not only suggests a lucrative 18 months ahead, but a series of eclipses that will act as a catalyst. The first of those will be a total solar eclipse in your income sector in August. With Mercury back in your career sector until the 16th May and Venus spending the whole month there, this explains their reluctance to leave or move on. The Moon will move through your income sector from the 2nd May to the 4th May. This will be during Venus' early days back in your career sector, with a nose for money invaluable. However, the Moon's visit to your financial sector from the 17th May to the 19th May and to your income sector from the 30th May to the 1st June, will both come after the lunar nodes have shifted here, giving your first proper read on them.
For the last 18 months the lunar nodes have been located in your two money houses, the South Node in your financial sector and the North Node in your income sector. The North Node has been acting as a pull, drawing you towards where the money is. With the Sun in your work sector until the 21st May and Mercury back from the 16th May, they are the planets that have already moved through and have relied on that intuitive sense of where the money is. Venus, when she retrograded back into your financial sector last month, was able to connect with the South Node there and in retrograde motion was able to focus on any of its untapped potential. On the 10th May the lunar nodes will shift, with the North Node not returning to your income sector and the South Node to your financial sector for another 17 years. This makes the Moon's visit to your income sector from the 4th May to the 7th May especially important. As the last contact with the North Node, a nose for money will help you zero into that sense of direction while it is still there. The Moon will move through your financial sector from the 19th May to the 21st May. This is after the South Node has moved on, but unlike your income sector where there is no planetary activity, here on the financial front there is. Neptune and Chiron are the caretaker crew that is keeping money matters on track. As the first visit since Venus left on the 29th April, this will be a chance to regroup in more ways than one.
While the Sun left your financial sector on the 20th April, there is still plenty unfolding and it's not just the caretaker crew that will always keep the wheels turning once your annual update is over. It was just a day after the Sun left your financial sector last month that Mercury retrograded back in and on the 29th April Venus returned for a double dip visit as well. Mercury only left your financial sector on the 21st April but Venus left on the 3rd April, having returned after a 26 day absence. Both planets are back for a double dip visit, giving you the gift of 20/20 hindsight and an opportunity for a do over. However, in retrograde motion until the 4th May, it is Mercury that will hold the doors open to the past, with his smart head for money coming with 20/20 hindsight. Mercury will leave on the 16th May but Venus, who had already spent two months here before leaving, will spend the whole of May back here. If there is anyone who can extract all the financial potential possible and put money matters on track then it is Venus, planet of money. It is once Venus leaves on the 6th June that the caretaker crew will step in, keeping money matters on track. While Venus will move into opposition with Jupiter in your income sector on the 19th/20th May, both sides will benefit. Income matters are getting a major boost from Mars, who is spending the whole of May in your career sector and the Sun, who will return on the 21st May. A bit of financial tension will keep income and money matters on their toes. As the planets of luck and money go head to head, only good things can come from this.
The focus is always going to be on money matters at this time of year, with the Sun always spending the first three weeks of May in your financial sector. That is still the case this year, with the difference being how much water has already passed under the bridge. The Sun's return each April is normally the point where money matters get their first lot of attention for the year and by early May you are usually just starting to get your bearings. Yet when the Sun returned on the 20th April Mars had already been here for six weeks and Mercury for three weeks. They both left during the Sun's first 36 hours, but not before leaving you with your financial passions and fighting spirit fuelled, a smart head for money and 20/20 hindsight. Mars won't be back for two years, but having retrograded back out Mercury will return for a double dip visit on the 16th May. This means Mercury won't be back in time for a Full Moon in your income sector on the 11th May, which is good and bad news. Bad news because you won't have Mercury's smart head for money to draw on as financial tension rises and there is pressure on both income and money matters. However, the good news more than compensates for that, especially as Mercury left you with a smart head for money and 20/20 hindsight last month. The good news is that this is a stripped back Full Moon. All you will have is the Moon in your income sector, in opposition with the Sun in your financial sector. There will be no other factors in play and nothing complicated. This is the push that money matters need, but also a kick start for income matters. This can be a fruitful and lucrative Full Moon, so watch this space.
The Sun's return to your financial sector on the 21st May will always put the focus on your financial situation and money matters at this time each year. However, what is not the norm is to already have Mars, warrior planet of the cosmos here for a month. Mars returned on the 21st April, exactly a month before the Sun was due to return to kick off your annual financial review. This gives Mars time to fire up your financial passions and fighting spirit and to get you excited about more than just the financial housekeeping the Sun tends to focus on. With Saturn in your income sector since December 2014, this has created some healthy competition between income and financial forces. In his first full month in retrograde motion, Saturn is more focused on the road behind, so will be happy to leave the road ahead to money matters. With your two money houses sitting opposite each other, this does set the scene for an opposition between Saturn and Mars. However that won't happen until the 28th/30th May, with plenty of time to sense this building and to use this as motivation on both fronts. Saturn is a giant planet, but also the most stoic and a bit of pressure from Mars won't put you or him off your stride. It is Mars who is more likely to react, with the warrior planet of the cosmos full of hot headed enthusiasm. Yet even then, this is more likely to see financial tension turn into motivation, throwing fuel on your financial passions and fighting spirit. With the Sun returning to your financial sector on the 21st May his reality checks will keep things in perspective.
Since returning to your income sector in 2008 Pluto has turned retrograde in April and remained in retrograde motion until September, with May always his first full month in retrograde motion. At the same time the Sun will always spend the first three weeks of May in your work sector, with these having overlapped like this for the last 10 years. When something is repeated enough it becomes the norm, it comes to be expected and whether consciously or subconsciously, you know how to run with this. The last 10 years have taught you that as the Sun returns to open new doors on the job front, the doors open to the past, second chances and untapped income potential. It helps that Mars wrapped up his six week visit to your work sector a day after the Sun returned. This gave Mars and Pluto, the planets of war and revolution, time to fire things up on both fronts. This has left the Sun with plenty of work and job options to explore and Pluto with plenty of untapped income potential to explore. With Mars returning to your financial sector early next month there will not only be competition between your two money houses, but this will split the money gods' attention. This makes May not only Pluto's first full month in retrograde motion in your income sector, but the only months of his retrograde phase where he and income matters have the full attention of the money gods. The Moon will move through from the 14th May to the 17th May and the timing couldn't be better. This will ensure your nose for money as Mercury returns to your work sector on the 16th May and before the Sun leaves on the 21st May.
To begin with there is nothing to suggest that there is anything unusual happening and in fact anything at all, with the money gods nowhere to be seen. That is to be expected at this time of year, with Mercury having left your income sector in February, ending all planetary activity for the year and the Sun, Mercury and Mars not due to return to your financial sector until June. Apart from the Moon's monthly visits to your two money houses, there is nothing to suggest that anything will change. Except it does and dramatically so, when the lunar nodes return to your two money houses on the 10th May. This will be like turning on a switch, one that will see a current run through income and money matters for the next 18 months. This also sets the scene for a series of eclipses over the next two years, which will have the power to bring dramatic shifts on both fronts. You will get your first taste of power of both the lunar nodes and these eclipses in August, when a lunar eclipse in your income sector and a total solar eclipse in your financial sector will reveal their full influence. The South Node will return to your income sector and the North Node to your financial sector on the 10th May and there they will stay until November 2018. These aren't planets and are gravitational pulls and the timing couldn't be better, especially for income matters. This will be the South Node's first visit to your income sector in 17 years and it comes just as Jupiter is making his first visit to your career sector in 12 years. More importantly, it comes just as Mars has returned to fire things up on both the job and career fronts.
When the lunar nodes returned to your two money houses in November 2015 there was a lot of planetary activity in play on both fronts. Jupiter was making his first visit to your financial sector in 12 years and for the first time in our lifetime, returned to find Neptune over on the other side of the sky, in opposition. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since then, but throughout that time they have kept money and income matters on track and more importantly balanced. The lunar nodes are always in opposition so on their own don't create financial tension. They are constantly working to maintain a natural balance between money coming in and money going out. When there were planets on both sides and in opposition this did create financial tension. However, there has been no planetary activity in your financial sector since 2016 and the power has shifted to income matters. Venus' rare double dip visit last month was a chance for the planet of money to try and capitalise on that. The lunar nodes will leave on the 10th May, with the South Node not returning to your income sector and the North Node to your financial sector for another 17 years. This will also bring a series of eclipses they have brought over the last few years on both fronts to a close, ending the wild swings this created. With no planetary activity in your financial sector once the North Node leaves, the money gods will turn all their focus onto your income situation and matters. With Neptune there until 2026 and Venus having just left on the 29th April, this will open the door to all the untapped income potential that has been stockpiling. Pay attention to a Full Moon in your career sector on the 11th May, the day after the lunar nodes shift. This is a stepping stone to major professional developments later in the year, something income forces will be keenly interested in.
When the Sun left your income sector on the 20th April this was never going to take all the focus off income matters, but it should have taken all the more mundane focus off. By that I mean the active forces that can trigger income developments. By the time the Sun left Mercury, Mars and Venus, the only other planets to pass through this year, had all been and gone. This was the point where the Sun should have handed the reins over to Eris and Uranus, the caretaker crew who are keeping the wheels turning on the income front, year after year. However, less than 24 hours after the Sun left and before the door could close behind him, Mercury jumped through, retrograding back into your income sector three weeks after leaving. In retrograde motion Mercury and his smart head for money are now coming with 20/20 hindsight and a chance to retrace your steps. Due to turn direct on the 4th May and then leave on the 16th May, Mercury's double dip visit includes a chance to retrace your steps and then benefit from that as much as possible. Mercury is not the only planet making a double dip visit, with Venus having returned on the 29th April, 26 days after retrograding back out. Venus won't leave until early June, spending the whole of May in your income sector. Having already spent two months here, from early February to early April, the planet of money knows exactly where the more lucrative paths lie. This time Venus means business and with Mercury already back when she returned, she's able to harness his smart head for money and 20/20 hindsight from the get go. Venus operates through the laws of attraction and with support from Saturn in your career sector and from the North Node, when it returns to your work sector on the 10th May, this has the potential to be a very lucrative month.
